Environmental Policy

Anochrome Group has been monitoring the environmental effects of its products for some time. All bought in materials, emissions, water used and waste products have to be accounted for, their use justified and improvements formulated.

To assess the true Environmental Impact of a coating and its application, the environmental advantages of the coating must be investigated, as well as the disadvantage to the environment of obtaining the raw materials and application processes used. A zinc coating on steel can more than double the useful life of a component - with larger increases with higher thicknesses.

The parameters considered are as below:

Raw material production methods.
Coating processing techniques.
Water - solvent usage and treatment.
Energy usage.
Advantages, corrosion protection of coating.
Any disposal problems at end of life.

Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control

Following the introduction of Regulation 10 of the Pollution Prevention and Control (England and Wales) Regulations, two of our sites, Anochrome and B.G.Plating, have been granted a permit by the Environment Agency.

These sites are visited by Agency Inspectors and, as a result of joint initiatives, have reduced their environmental impact since the winter of 2004, when the permits came in to force.  Waste production and energy use have been significantly reduced.
